Crime Prevention
Please do your part by making sure all your doors and windows are locked, keep garage
doors closed while doing yard work, and do not keep valuable items in unattended vehicles.

We are striving to get global participation in crime watch activities in order to get to know our
neighbors better and to make our community safer.  We would like to get a crime watch
captain on each street in our community to organize events and meetings.  Below is a list of
our current crime watch captains. Please contact your block captain to volunteer your support.
If there is not a captain for your street, contact the Crime Watch Chairperson for information
on becoming involved.

"Indeed, with each citizen looking out for himself
only, there is no community, no strength in
numbers, but rather a fragmentation that can
serve only to encourage the criminal elements."

INFORMATION ON THE BLOCK CAPTAIN / CO-CAPTAIN PROGRAM

Being a Block Captain is a great way to get to know your neighbors and encourage neighborhood unity and cooperation.
They are general ambassadors at large promoting good will for the benefit of our community.   Ideally, captains will
attend the meetings and get feedback on neighborhood issues to pass along to neighbors in their block.

Neighbors should become familiar with each other and know how to get in touch for reporting suspicious activity to their
local law enforcement agency and to the Block Captain.

Block Captains are neighborhood leaders working to make their community a safe place to live, work, and play.  By
becoming a Block Captain you can help strengthen your neighborhood.  Block Captains can work with the neighbors to
organize e-mail contacts, a "phone call tree", and coordinate block parties.  They can also encourage participation at
National Night Out.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BLOCK CAPTAIN / CO-CAPTAIN

•     Coordinate social activities for their block as desired
•     Act as the primary contact person for their block to the Crime Watch Chairperson
•     Help organize and maintain the neighborhood crime watch program
•     Attend Safety Meetings with other Block Captains
•     Assist in recruiting additional Block Captains when needed
•     Assist in finding a replacement if no longer able to fulfill the duties of the Block Captain
